Orange gets iPhone<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/a>The chains and shackles have finally been broken in the UK as O2 loses it’s exclusive grip on the iPhone. It’s a good day for a bit of healthy competition and consumer choice.<\/p>\n

But, it is disappointing that Orange seem to have chosen not to start a price war, in favour of a ‘playing it safe’ softly softly approach to the pricing. 18 month lock-in contracts remain and though the lowest contract monthly tariff is \u00a329.36, realistically that does not give you much (150 minutes, 250 texts with unlimited surfing)! And on top of that, the handset costs you a huge \u00a3184.50 for an iPhone 3GS (16gb)!<\/p>\n

Good times have not arrived folks. And even more shocking than the costs, is the fact that like O2, Orange are listing unlimited wi-fi as a freebie! Yeah, I’m on my own home network, damn straight I’m not paying either Orange or O2 for the priviledge!<\/p>\n

Rant over, despite it’s numerous usability, performance and development framework issues, the iPhone is still beautiful and unrivalled design-wise. My head has been turned by Android phones but…hey, I’m married not dead!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
